¶ Silver (Ag)
¶ Common uses
Although most people think that, because silver is a noble metal, it can be used for a capping layer, it does have the chance sulfidize into AgSx due to nearby highways emitting sulfides into the atmosphere. Although this happens slowly (over the course of >2 weeks, this might be measurable), it does happen.
Silver is commonly used in mirrors because of its good reflectivity.
¶ Recipes
¶ Sputtering (Z406)
For the standard sputtering recipe, using Ar gas in the Z406, Ag should have a morphology such as in the AFM image, which has a scalebar of 200 nm, roughness of 2.2 nm and a thickness of 33 nm.
¶ Evaporation (resistance evaporator)
Beware that if Ag is evaporated, it should not be annealed unless the intention is to form droplets.
